Unfiltered: No Shame, No Regrets, Just Me by Lily Collins

Rating: 5 stars
Author: Lily Collins
Series: Standalone
Spoilers: Spoiler Free

"The quirky things that make you different are what make you beautiful."

Like most of us probably have, I discovered Lily Collins from a little movie called The Mortal Instruments;), so presumably I was determined and very interested in picking this up. Let me just start by saying that this is one the most relatable and raw books I have read across any genre thus far. She touches on subjects from her own experiences such as eating disorders, body insecurities, toxic relationships, and learning to be who she is no matter what others think.

Having dealt with body, food, and life insecurities of my own, the struggles and situations she went through heavily resonates with me and has given me a sense of closure. She gives her uncensored opinions, wisdom, and experiences, based on what she has learned from her teen years to where she is now and doesn't hold anything back. She walks us through her unhealthy relationships and past experiences with her peers, parents, herself, and ex-boyfriends and how they have shaped her into who she is today.

"Everything happens for a reason and, of course at times it's very discouraging, but at the end of the day you can't take it personally and move onward because if you let it sit with you, then it starts to eat away at you and you're allowing someone else to steal your excitement. No one wants that."

"When someone shows you who they are, believe them."

Lily shows and teaches us that were not alone and that others are here to love, support, and help us in anyway if we just ask, lastly she discusses how we should always remember to put ourselves first, no matter the circumstances or hard it may be.

I could go on forever about the importance, details, and love for this book, but to keep it non-spoilery I will end it here. I believe that anyone, girl or boy, young or old, can reflect or relate to this book on some level and that this review has inspired anyone to pick it up.:)

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Book Review

Rating: 5 stars
Author: J.K. Rowling
Series: Harry Potter #1
Spoilers: Spoiler Free

First off, Welcome to my first book review!
Plot:
In this novel we follow our protagonist Harry Potter as he discovers his role in the wizarding world and his new life at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. As the story opens, we are introduced to Harry and his awful family members, who had to take him in after the assassination of his parents from He-who-must-not-be named a.k.a Voldemort. With Harry's birthday approaching, he starts to receive his acceptance letters from Hogwarts and the story unfolds from there.

Writing:
J.K. Rowling has created world for people of all ages to enjoy. One of my biggest fears reading this for the first time was that I wasn't going to be able to relate or enjoy this story as much as a younger audience would, but she has proved me wrong entirely. With these characters she truly captures what the essence of being a child is like and the innocence most of them carry. The writing is easy and simple to understand, yet her words still have a big impact with readers which I believe is one of the most important parts about writing, the message and ability to connect with any audience. I'm definitely excited to see where she takes the plot, these characters, and how they develop throughout the series.

Characters:
Ron Wesley- Ron, the whole Weasley family in general really, is just my absolute favorite. Ron is my child and I love him so much. He is just so innocent, loyal, and wise that I can't handle it.

Harry Potter- Harry is another one of my favorites. He is not afraid of any challenge and doesn't let anything stop him. He is very intelligent and wise for his age, but still mischievous, funny, and curious which is what I love most about his character.

Hermione Granger- She is by far the smartest young character that I have ever read about, but she is also very determined and loyal to her friends which is another thing I love about these characters.

These are just my surface thoughts about these characters, but more in depth analysis will be on other reviews once I've learned more about these characters and the others. :)

Initial Thoughts After Reading:
This book deserves all the stars there are to give, I'm absolutely blown away by how much I love this. I definitely did not expect to like this as much as I do. Also I'm not an easy crier when it comes to books, but this one got me and wow wow wow,  definitely a new favorite and I'm mad and glad that I waited to read this because now I get to enjoy all that these books are for the first time!!
